Arsenal Consider Move to Re-Sign Omari Hutchinson as Forest Face Financial Crisis
Arsenal are reportedly considering a surprise move to re-sign Omari Hutchinson at the Emirates Stadium. The 22-year-old winger, who came up through the club’s youth system, has caught the eye once again – this time while playing for Nottingham Forest.
Rumours are rife that the Gunners are keeping a very close eye indeed on their former academy star as Forest face a right old mess, on the pitch and off it, with financial pressures mounting.
Hutchinson’s Journey: From Arsenal Youth to Life-Changing Forest Deal
Omari Hutchinson’s life ins football has had a load of twists and turns already. Before joining Arsenal’s youth ranks back in 2015, he had a spell in the academies at Charlton Athletic and Chelsea. He ended up staying with the Gunners for seven years until 2022, before contract talks stalled.
That’s when he decided to make the bold (and some would say pretty unexpected) move back to Chelsea. He managed just two senior appearances for the Blues before being shipped out on loan to Ipswich Town. That’s where he really found his footing, and helped the club win promotion to the Premier League after all.

After that impressive stint, Ipswich signed him up permanently for about £20 million in the summer of 2024. But when Ipswich got relegated back to the Championship just one season later, Hutchinson was off again – this time to Nottingham Forest in a club-record deal worth £37.5 million last summer.

Since joining the City Ground, the former England U21 star has chipped in with one goal and six assists across 22 appearances. Not bad numbers, especially considering the circumstances. The kid’s got talent, no question.
Nottingham Forest’s Tight Spot – Relegation Battle + PSR Woes
Nottingham Forest are in the thick of it, fighting to stay in the Premier League. That’s seen a bit of a change behind the scenes, with Vitor Pereira coming in to replace Sean Dyche as manager. The new gaffer’s got a big job on his hands – turning things around and keeping the club out of the drop zone.
If they do get relegated, Forest are going to have to offload some of their top assets pretty sharpish. And Hutchinson – as one of their most valuable players – would likely be right at the top of the list for top-flight clubs wanting to snap him up.
Even if they somehow manage to avoid the drop, Forest are facing another problem. Their finances are in a right old state, thanks to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Selling off a high-value player like Hutchinson could help sort them out, one way or another.
But Forest are determined to keep hold of their star man, and aren’t going to let him go for peanuts. With his contract running until June 2030, they’ve got some serious leverage – any serious buyer would need to come in with a serious bid, knocking on the door at around £55-60 million (which is just astronomical) before any talks even get started.
Why Arsenal Are Interested – Homegrown Talent and a Smart Move
For Arsenal, this one is a no-brainer. The fact that Hutchinson is one of their own is huge in the current Premier League landscape, where squad registration rules are getting tighter by the day. Bringing back a player who knows the club inside and out from his days in the youth setup would be a sentimental win and a smart move all at once.
People close to the situation are saying that Arsenal view Hutchinson as a major long-term prospect. Right now, he’s not their top target, but if things don’t fall into place for Mikel Arteta like they’re supposed to, Hutchinson could quickly move up the wishlist.
It’s worth remembering that he’s no stranger to the north London scene – he spent 7 years cutting his teeth in Arsenal’s youth academy back in the day before moving on in 2022. A reunion would be a pretty wild full circle story coming full circle.

The Competition is Heating Up – Chelsea, Newcastle, Dortmund all in the Mix
Arsenal won’t get him without a fight if they decide to go after him. Chelsea are said to be making some tentative feelers to see if they can bring him back to the club where they once poached him. Newcastle are also interested, while Borussia Dortmund are keeping a watchful eye on things from the other side of the channel.
At the same time, Forest are saying they want to build around Hutchinson for another season, but it’s getting to the point where you have to wonder if that’s still a realistic goal – or at least one they can afford.
Until then, it’s a wait and see situation for Arsenal and the other clubs sniffing around – but if Forest’s situation starts to look grim, this kid could be on the move in a hurry.
