Timber Twins at Arsenal? Quinten Rejects Lazio as Free Transfer Talks Emerge
Arsenal are getting close to tying down a new long-term contract for defender Jurrien Timber, and the speculation is mounting over whether his twin brother Quinten Timber will join him in North London.
Quinten himself is in a precarious position because his contract at Feyenoord will be running out come the end of this year.
Jurrien Timber has been a revelation since returning from the long-term knee injury that held him up early in his Arsenal career, and has developed into a key player under Mikel Arteta’s tutelage.
The 24 year old Dutch international is delivering all across the pitch, chipping in with goals and assists as Arsenal push for the Premier League title.
And with a new deal on the horizon that will see him tied up at the club beyond 2028, the club is set to give him a very lucrative contract.

Quinten Timber Contract Situation

While Arsenal are busy trying to lock down Jurrien, the opposite seems to be true for his twin brother Quinten. The 24 year old is entering the final six months of his contract at Feyenoord – that runs out in June of this year.
From January, Quinten will be eligible to start making overtures to foreign clubs with a pre contract agreement, so you would expect Feyenoord to start trying to get a new deal sorted out. But so far, the talks have stalled, and the Feyenoord midfielder has apparently been looking to make a move to a higher profile league.
The interest is starting to build
Quinten is a seriously talented midfielder – one of the Eredivisie’s standout players – with a great all round game that includes a good passing range, ball carrying skills and a knack for scoring goals. He is also physically and tactically gifted.
And so, we are seeing interest from several top clubs in Europe, including:
- Premier League: Arsenal, Brentford, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham
- Europe: Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Lazio
And Italian side Lazio have actually been in talks over a possible January move or pre contract agreement. But their approach got a pretty swift rebuff.
According to Vincent Schildkamp – a Dutch ESPN analyst – the decision was quite understandable, actually.
“I totally get why he’s saying no to Lazio,” Schildkamp said. “I mean, that’s just beneath him.”
“And I think he could definitely slot into Arsenal’s midfield. I reckon Jurrien will be telling his manager that he’s got a top twin brother.”
Schildkamp added that Quinten may well choose to stay at Feyenoord for the remainder of the season, just so he can keep in the frame for a spot in the Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup
The importance of midfield options

Arsenal have been doing some good work in strengthening their midfield, with the addition of players like Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi. But if they could pick up another midfielder, that would be a big plus for Arteta’s squad.
A move for Quinten Timber would be a good low-cost option – either a free transfer in the summer of 2026 or a cut price deal in January. And the fact that he’s already familiar with the Premier League from his relationship with his twin brother is definitely a plus.
What happens next?
Arsenal are being pretty cautious with their transfer business at the moment, and are giving their best shot at winning the title a priority. They haven’t made any formal approach for Quinten Timber yet, but it’s only a matter of time before the transfer speculation really starts to heat up.
With one Timber brother likely to be staying and the other heading off – or at least looking likely to do so – the coming months are going to be very interesting indeed.
