Arsenal Transfer Bombshell: £87m Bundesliga Wonderkid Yan Diomande Targeted as Martinelli Replacement
Andrea Berta needs to be lining up a move for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande in the summer, with the teenager on fire in the Bundesliga. With Arsenal seeking attacking reinforcements, the Gunners’ interest in the 18-year-old sensation could define their transfer window.
As Arsenal Insider revealed back in November, Arsenal have been watching Diomande, and the race for his signature is likely to be rather fierce. Berta is looking to sign a new attacker in the summer, with left wing likely to be the priority, given the need to replace Gabriel Martinelli.
Diomande is only 18, so it would be a major gamble from the Gunners, but he has taken Germany by storm and looks ready to do the same in the Premier League.
Arsenal Need to Move for Yan Diomande
Arsenal cannot afford to hesitate in the race for Yan Diomande. The RB Leipzig winger is rapidly emerging as one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers, and his explosive form in the Bundesliga has put elite clubs on red alert.

The Ivorian international took his goal tally to 10 for the season over the weekend as he netted in Leipzig’s 2-1 win over Hamburger SV. His composure in front of goal continues to stand out, particularly for a player still in his teens.
In that same match, Diomande managed to get the better of Luka Vuskovic, underlining his ability to perform against top-level defensive prospects. Over his last seven Bundesliga appearances, the winger has registered six goal involvements — numbers that rival far more experienced wide men across Europe.
Diomande also impressed at the Africa Cup of Nations, helping Ivory Coast reach the quarter-finals and showcasing his ability on the international stage. Naturally right-footed but comfortable on either flank, he has featured 18 times on the right and seven on the left for Leipzig — versatility that would suit Mikel Arteta’s tactical system perfectly.
However, competition is intensifying. Liverpool FC have also shown interest, and while Leipzig reportedly accept his departure is inevitable, journalist Philipp Hinze claims the German side are demanding £87 million.
A Major Upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard?
Given the recent struggles of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, Diomande could represent a significant upgrade.
Trossard has just one goal in his last 14 Premier League outings, while Martinelli has not scored in the league since September. For a side with title ambitions, that lack of cutting edge from the wings is proving costly.
Arteta’s system relies heavily on dynamic wide players who can stretch defenses, create overloads, and contribute consistent goals. Diomande’s directness, pace, and confidence in one-on-one situations suggest he could thrive in England.
The Gunners are missing firepower on the wings, and Diomande has already shown that he could add goals to Mikel Arteta’s team.
The Gunners cannot afford another season with these two as their left-wing options, so it’s time for Berta to get to work on replacing the pair.
