Arsenal Injury Update: Calafiori and Hincapie Return to Training Before Manchester United
Arsenal have recieved a massive defensive lift Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie have returned to training with Arsenal – and just in time for Gunners to breathe a sigh of relief ahead of their blockbuster Premier League showdown against Manchester United on Sunday, 25th January 2026 at the Emirates Stadium.
A Real Double Injury Boost For Arsenal’s Defence
Things are finally looking up for the Gunners, who’ve been struggling to get their defensive act together lately.
And it’s come in the form of a welcome double return for Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie.
Both players were spotted back in action with the first team on Friday – and this morning, Charles Watts had the inside track on the significance of it all, reminding us just how crucial a win against United is going to be.
Piero Hincapie’s Swift Recovery from Groin Issue
And what’s even more impressive is that Hincapie’s return is happening just when it was needed most – after a spell of uncertainty over his groin injury had fans getting a bit worried that he might be out for far longer.
In the end, it just turned out to be a case of ‘next week’, courtesy of a few positive check-ups from the medics.
So one match lost in the Premier League (plus a few more in other competitions) and it’s looking like Hincapie is back in the running. All very encouraging for the Gunners, especially at the back where they’ve been crying out for some extra options.

Riccardo Calafiori’s Long-Awaited Return After Extended Absence

Calafiori’s been out of action for even longer – eight games gone, because of a muscle problem.
But now that he’s finally back, it’s no exaggeration to say it’s a huge boost for the Italian defender. It’s going to take some careful handling to make sure he doesn’t pick up any new problems. A bit of slow reintroduction to the fray should do the trick.
Additional Positive Signs in Training
And that’s not all – Kai Havertz also had a good day out in training, which should help to silence a few of the whispers about a minor knee flare-up that fans had been getting a bit worked up about.
And perhaps most heartening of all, we didn’t hear about any new injuries – apart from a certain young Max Dowman, who seems to be the only one missing from the squad at the moment.
What Mikel Arteta’s Got to Say Today
Later today, Mikel Arteta’s going to be giving us a bit more insight into the injury situation ahead of the big match against Manchester United.

Fans will be itching to hear what he has to say about whether Calafiori and Hincapie will be in the frame to feature against United.
