Wayne Rooney Makes Huge Premier League Title Claim After Man Utd Shock Arsenal
Manchester United pulled off a stunning 3-2 win over Arsenal in a thrilling Premier League encounter at the Emirates Stadium. The Red Devils came from behind to claim all three points, denting the Gunners’ title hopes and marking their first home defeat of the season.
Match Highlights: How United Overturned Arsenal’s Lead
Arsenal took an early lead through an own goal by Lisandro Martinez. Manchester United responded brilliantly, equalizing before half-time courtesy of Bryan Mbeumo‘s clinical finish after a defensive error.
In the second half, Patrick Dorgu unleashed a thunderous strike to put United ahead. Arsenal fought back with Mikel Merino leveling the score, but Matheus Cunha delivered a superb late winner with a curled effort past David Raya in the 87th minute.
Rooney’s Verdict: Arsenal Remain Title Favourites Despite Setback
Wayne Rooney, speaking to BBC Sport, praised Manchester United’s performance under caretaker manager Michael Carrick, describing the second-half display as “excellent” and fully deserving of the victory. He noted Arsenal appeared “nervy” and started the half on the back foot.
Despite the defeat, Rooney insisted Arsenal are still the Premier League title favourites, though he believes Mikel Arteta will be “concerned” after recent drop of points to Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and now Manchester United.

I don’t think he would have dreamt of that start,” Rooney added.
