“Title Race OVER!” Jamie Redknapp Says Arsenal Can Start Celebrating Already
The Premier League title picture has shifted dramatically this weekend, and according to Jamie Redknapp, it’s time for Arsenal fans to get excited.
The former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder believes the race is effectively done, with Mikel Arteta’s side now in pole position to end their long wait for a league crown.
Arsenal Extend Lead After Dream Weekend Results
Arsenal headed into the weekend with their advantage trimmed to just four points following a disappointing defeat to Manchester United. But a convincing victory over Leeds United, combined with setbacks for their main rivals, has changed everything.
The Gunners now sit six points clear at the top of the Premier League table after 24 matches, boasting 53 points from 16 wins, 5 draws, and 3 losses. Their goal difference stands at an impressive +29.
Manchester City, their closest challengers, could only manage a 2-2 draw away at Tottenham Hotspur. Pep Guardiola’s side fought back but ultimately dropped valuable points, leaving them on 47 points. Aston Villa, the other main contender, suffered a surprise 1-0 home loss to 10-man Brentford, dropping them to 46 points and seven behind Arsenal.
This sequence of results has turned what was a tightening race into what many now see as Arsenal’s to lose.

Jamie Redknapp: “This Is It – The Title Is Done”

Speaking on Sky Sports, Jamie Redknapp didn’t hold back. He insisted the Premier League title race is over, even with 14 games still remaining for each team.
“Mikel Arteta will have been at home this afternoon watching the two games and thinking, ‘I fancy Villa to beat Brentford’ – they didn’t. Then he would have seen this [Tottenham vs Man City], second half, thinking, ‘5-0’. He will be opening a nice bottle of Rioja tonight,” Redknapp said.
“This is it. I think this is the title done now for Arsenal and I think they can go on and win it by eight, 10 points. I would be amazed if they don’t.”
Redknapp highlighted Arsenal’s growing confidence and squad strength as key factors. He noted that earlier anxieties among players and fans – along with some tension from the manager – appear to have eased.
“They have got the players… They can start to relax a bit and I would be amazed if they didn’t go on and win this title comfortably now,” he added.
Injuries Hit Rivals Hard While Arsenal Cope Well
The timing couldn’t be better for Arsenal. Both Manchester City and Aston Villa are grappling with significant injury problems that have weakened their squads at a crucial stage.
City’s defense has been hit hard, missing key players like John Stones, Ruben Dias, and Josko Gvardiol. Villa, meanwhile, were without Ollie Watkins, John McGinn, and Boubacar Kamara in their defeat to Brentford, and Redknapp believes they’re simply running out of steam.
Arsenal haven’t been immune to injuries this season, but their depth has shone through. Stand-ins like Gabriel Jesus and others have stepped up when needed. Noni Madueke, for example, impressed in the Leeds win after coming in for an injured Bukayo Saka just before kickoff.
Years of smart recruitment across multiple transfer windows have finally paid off, giving Arteta a squad capable of handling the demands of competing on multiple fronts.
Redknapp: Arsenal Have the Best Squad in the League

Redknapp doubled down on why he sees no realistic comeback from the challengers.
“They have got the best squad. They have the best players and nobody is really strong enough to compete,” he explained.
“Villa are doing incredible things – absolutely amazing what they are achieving – but they are running out of steam with injuries, and Manchester City’s form just isn’t strong enough. They aren’t capable of going on an 18, 19 game run like they did a few years ago.”
What’s Next for Arsenal?
The Gunners face a busy week ahead. They first host Chelsea in the second leg of the League Cup semi-final on Tuesday, holding a 3-2 lead from the first leg and heavily favored to reach the final.
In the Premier League, Sunderland visit the Emirates next weekend – a fixture Arsenal will be expected to win comfortably as they look to maintain momentum.
Arteta’s side are also still in the Champions League, having already secured their spot in the last 16. That means they’re battling on four fronts, but the manager remains bullish.
“The mentality is good,” Arteta said after the Leeds win. “To play with that level of enjoyment about where we are, and then with the conviction to believe in what we do and how good we are, and that we can beat any opponent… we certainly have done that.”
“But then you have to show the quality as well in this league to do it, and it came out in great ways from different players as well.”

With the table looking increasingly favorable and voices like Jamie Redknapp calling the title race over, Arsenal fans have every reason to feel optimistic. The first Premier League title since 2004 could finally be on its way to north London.
