Inter Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu Ruled Out of Arsenal UCL Clash With Calf Strain
Inter Milan have confirmed that midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has pulled a muscle in his left calf and is going to be out of action for around 20 days according to reports in Italy.
The Turkey international had to be taken off in the second half of Inter’s 2-2 draw with Napoli on Sunday at the Stadio Meazza. They’d just about managed to scrape a draw there so this is a bit of a blow.
Club Statement
Inter issued a medical update this morninng on Calhanoglu. The details came out after some further tests they’d run.
“Hakan Çalhanoğlu got an MRI scan this morning over at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano,” the club said in a statement. “And it turned out he’s got a muscle strain in his left calf. They’ll be keeping an eye on him over the coming days and seeing how he goes.”
Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia are saying that the midfielder is likely going to be out for at least three weeks – though that figure may come and go.

What Matches Calhanoglu Will Miss Out On

With Calhanoglu out of the picture Inter, who just happen to be top of the Serie A standings at the moment, are going to be missing a key player for a few important games.
Here are the ones he’s set to miss:
- Lecce (their rescheduled Week 16 fixture)
- Udinese, Pisa, and Cremonese (all Serie A matches)
- Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund (Champions League)
And if all goes to plan Calhanoglu might be back in time for their league match away at Sassuolo on February 8th.
Missing A Key Player
Calhanoglu has been a real vital cog in Inter’s machine this season. He’s popped up with eight goals and delivered four assists in 22 appearances for them across all competitions.
Their original Week 16 fixture was actually cancelled in December coz Inter were taking part in the Supercoppa Italiana.
