Arteta Sweats Over Havertz Injury After Knee Problem Returns
Arsenal are getting anxious about Kai Havertz‘s long-term fitness after the German star hit a roadbump in his quest to get back on the pitch from a pesky knee injury that’s been kicking around since August 17,2025.
Havertz picked up ligament damage in the season opener against Manchester United and hasn’t started a match for the Gunners since then.
Arsenal’s Worries About Havertz’s Long-Term Future
According to the Daily Mail, the club is getting increasingly concerned about this ongoing problem , and Havertz’s knee flaring up again right after he came back from being out for a while.
He came back on as a second-half sub in their FA Cup win over Portsmouth and only made it 8 minutes into the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi against Chelsea .
Despite pushing hard to get back up to full speed, the problem’s resurfaced and now manager Mikel Arteta has his hands full trying to figure out how many minutes to give him.

Arteta Faces Tough Management Decisions
You’d have thought that a player as talented as Havertz would be itching to get back on the pitch, but he’s still nowhere near being match fit so much that some of his fans were shocked when he wasn’t even on the bench for the big Champions league tie against Inter Milan.

Arsenal are worried that getting him back to 100% might take ages , and that means they’ll have to keep a tight rein on his playing time for the rest of the season and probably beyond. For now though he’s only expected to get a few minutes here and there so he can slowly get back up to speed.
Arteta has spoken highly of Havertz’s talent and work rate in the past when he said :”He trains well, he’s increased his load, he’s coping with that really well and he will be ready when we can have him.”
He added on expectations for Havertz being high: “Yes, but I understand this is the level as well. And when a player has the chance to put our shirt on and compete for us, you know that the demands are excellence – and that’s it. Kai is aware of that.”
Havertz Becomes the Latest in Arsenal’s Injury Woes
Havertz has now thrown his name into the mix of players who are currently out with injuries – and its getting to be a pretty long list : Max Dowman has been laid low with an ankle problem, Riccardo Calafiori is nursing a muscle issue, and Piero Hincapie is struggling with a groin problem.
For Arsenal this season, a crippling run of first-team injuries has been an all-too common occurrence – in fact, theyve more often than not found themselves right at the top of the Premier League injury charts.
Back in December Arteta took a pop at the suggestions that their training methods were the root of the problem: “No, because we don’t have time to train. Today [Tuesday] we’ve done 20 minutes, so surely it’s not because we over-trained the players.
“But obviously when you are missing players, you are loading other players and there is a consequence to that, and it’s a really dangerous circle.

“You have to separate the kind of injuries. Some of them have been long-term and some have been acute injuries. It’s something that we are constantly looking at.
“We have played a lot of games with a lot of players missing and that puts a lot of stress, and then you get more injuries.”
This latest blow is just adding to the sense of pressure on Arsenal’s hopes of winning the title or doing well in the cups – and that fixture list is getting a lot crazier by the day.
