Ola Aina Trolls Arsenal After VAR Escape With WWE ‘I Lie, I Cheat, I Steal’ Song
Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina has delivered a cheeky swipe at Arsenal on social media after a contentious VAR decision went in his favour in the Premier League’s 0-0 draw at the City Ground.
The final decision sparked heated debate, with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta branding it a “very clear penalty” while Forest were celebrating a much-needed point in their fight to stay up.
Ola Aina Controversial Handball Moment
As the clock ticked down to the final whistle – just 10 minutes to go – it looked like Arsenal might just snatch all three points. Ola Aina was desperately trying to win the ball back from Gabriel Jesus as the two players nipped at it under foot – and with a bit of a nudge from his own teammate Elliot Anderson to boot – the ball looked to have clipped his arm.
VAR stepped in to take a closer look but in the end stuck with the original no-penalty call made by referee Michael Oliver. According to Oliver, the ball first hit Aina’s shoulder and so his arm was in a natural position.
Forest boss Sean Dyche backed the decision, saying that if you were to start awarding penalties for every handball you’d pretty much have to cancel the game altogether: “You may as well cancel football if you’re going to start handing out penalties like that… I don’t like most of the handball decisions that are made nowadays.”
Mikel Arteta on the other hand was fuming afterwards: “It hits the shoulder then he takes the ball with his hand. I just don’t think that explanation is right… if it wasnt a penalty I wouldn’t be sitting here saying in my opinion it was a pretty clear one.”

Of course opinions are all over the place, with some ex referees saying the decision was a cock-up and others think it was a fair call.
Aina’s Playful Social Media Response

True to form, Aina wasn’t about to sit tight. He fired off an Instagram post to celebrate Forest’s valuable point, loading up on match photos – including a shot of the VAR-checked incident – with the caption: “Lovely to be back at the City Ground with all our fans, it’s always a great feeling”
And then there was the real talk of the town… the background music: WWE’s legendary “Viva La Raza” track by the one and only Eddie Guerrero, with the iconic lyrics: “I lie, I cheat, I steal. I lie, I cheat, I steal.” blasting loudly in the background
Adding a cheeky touch to his Instagram Stories, Aina grinned, looking sweaty, and tacked on the caveat: “Viva La Raza (I’m only joking, can’t say I didn’t see that one coming)”
The lighthearted nod to Guerrero’s infamous catchphrase – essentially a playful “cheating” admission to taking a bit of an advantage – flew off the handle and went viral as a laugh-out-loud piece of banter aimed squarely at Arsenal fans.
Aina Speaks Out on Arsenal Handball Incident
Later, on his X channel, Aina shared his side of the incident: “I got a little nudge from Anderson, just a little tap, and it caught me in a weird spot. But my hands are like this the whole time (he gestures with hands) yeah, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. I think it was a fair call all things considered.”

The draw keeps Arsenal on top of the table but they’ve had a chance to pull clear gone, while Forest do what they needed to in the relegation scrap.
Aina’s WWE-inspired trolling has just added more fuel to the fire – the perfect mix of VAR controversy and Premier League drama, the stuff we all love!
